Ndege Beach Development Association

Community-based strategic planning for Ndege Beach Development Association

A localised development strategy that aligned grassroots needs with sustainable economic opportunities — and a mangrove, urban-forestry and beekeeping project prepared for grant funding.

The challenge

The association wanted to turn its members’ priorities into a coherent plan, strengthen its governance and access funding for local initiatives such as environmental conservation.

Our approach

We facilitated community-based strategic planning with the association’s leadership and members and strengthened its organisational governance. We then designed “Green Horizons”, a community project combining mangrove restoration, urban tree planting and beekeeping in Mbweni ward, Kinondoni, and prepared the proposal and budget for the Tanzania Forest Fund (TaFF) small-grants window in 2024 and 2025.

The outcome

In the association’s words, the intervention “amplified community ownership, improved organizational governance, and unlocked new funding streams for local initiatives.”
